For the Love of Italy

I'm in the Pacific Northwest, but my love of Italy hasn't gone away.  On this page I am providing information regarding the two Italian regions of my ancestors, where I love to travel and visit.

The first is Abruzzo.  In the mountains, not too far from the Gran Sasso National Park is where the Di Marcos lived for centuries, and still do. I've traveled many roads in this part of Italy...all of them beautiful.

Here's a view of Gran Sasso with Castelli, the town where ceramics have been a specialty since 600 AD.

And this is a picture of my Ohio cousin Phyllis in the middle of my Di Marco cousins who live so close to the Gran Sasso.

And here is Tuscany.  In the upper left of this Tuscany map you see an area known as Lunigiana.

On the Lunigiano map below you can see the small town of Aulla.  An even smaller town near Aulla is where my maternal ancestors have lived their lives.  I have family there still.

Who doesn't love driving the roads or taking the trains through Tuscany?

When I get my hands on the group photo I have with my cousins who grew up in Pallerone in Lunigiano area, I'll post it here.

Lunigiano is on the borders of Tuscany and Liguria.

Here is the Church of St. Ampelio, Bordighera. Liguria, Italy.

It is a small church built on the rocks. And in this jigsaw we see it while a guard watches the entrance to the city from the East.
